Where are you and where are you going?

Here’s the most basic initial appraisal I make of every business I advise (whatever size it is):

growth versus profits matrix

I can’t emphasize how important it is to be very clear and honest with yourself about where on this graph your business is – and more importantly where your business is trending.

So treating an organization that is trending like this, say:

growth profits trending down

…is very different from working with a company that is trending like this: 

growth profits trending up

In later posts I’m going to elaborate on the key actions required for each quadrant, but in the meantime, why not click here to download a pdf of this graph and answer these questions as honestly as you can:

Can you plot where you are now? 

Can you plot where you’re trending toward (or are you static in one quadrant?)
