Back from the 'flu and bursting with pride

Well, it’s been two long weeks, and I’m finally free of the ‘flu. Glad to be back, and sorry I haven’t been able to write sooner. I missed you.I’m traveling south today from San Francisco on my favorite freeway: the 101. I know it’s often clogged with traffic and parts of it aren’t exactly scenic, but I’ve been bewitched by the 101 since when as a kid back in Northern Ireland I was glued weekly to the TV series ‘The Rockford Files’, where it featured prominently in the opening titles (and often in the plot).

Today is a special day for me, so I thought I’d share it with you. I’m going to Google, to speak at the Authors@Google series. Since its inception, I’ve avidly watched this series of great talks by world-class authors – people such as David Allen, Dan Pink, Seth Godin and Michael Bungay-Stainier (they’re all available on YouTube, and I recommend them highly).

When ‘Predictable Success’ was launched almost exactly a year ago, it was one of my stretch goals to get an invite to speak there. Well, I’ve* done it, and today I get to join the serried ranks of so many people I admire tremendously. I’m bursting with pride, and I hope you’ll forgive me for it.

I’ll let you know when the video is posted smile

* ‘I’ haven’t done it, of course – various other folks made it happen for me. You know who you are, you know why I’m not going to name you specifically here, and I hope you know you have my deepest appreciation and thanks.
