There’s a difference between being big and being healthy. You probably don’t need to think for too long to name some very big organizations whose size is unhealthy: for them, for their customers, for their industry.
And you’re probably not thinking that way right now about your own organization, because you don’t see it as being anywhere near that big – yet.
But if you don’t think about it now, when will you? When you’re finally that big – and unhealthy?
The very largest organizations – including many of those that nearly brought down the global economy last year – didn’t suddenly lose the plot in the final moments before they used their size to do very unhealthy things. They lost the plot over a long time, starting when they were the size your business is now.
You need to think about how you’re growing your business, not just if you’re growing it – now. Not then.
